If intelligence grew on trees we would probably cut them down and burn them all. Intelligence is not the hallmark of today's social fabric. Many of us condemn intelligence as a disease akin to leprosy--certain to cause slow degradation and cause demise. Many of us elevate the anti-intelligentsia to pinnacle of trust and honor while demeaning those who exhibit some level of intelligent thought and action.
Sometimes, my belief is that we would all be better off if plankton could vote. Alternatively maybe we could vote for them by understanding how much we all depend upon plankton for our survival. If planton die away so will we, so it is in our best survival interests to listen to what they are saying or maybe what they are not saying. Scientific studies described in the title link to this blog proves that plankton are slowly diminishing in the oceans of the world. This fact, associated with the gradual warming of the Earth's temperature and increased atmospheric carbon dioxide means that live on Earth will become problematical unless the plankton recover and their abundance increases as carbon dioxide decreases and global warming diminishes.
I am not a betting person, but since many decision making politicians are virtually ignorant of physical sciences why should we expect them to understand and plan a way out of the eventual demise of the oceans' plankton? Maybe if they were plankton they would see the light and lead the plankton brigades to salvage the Earth's environment for future generations. My, such wishful thinking. Instead we can expect the onging thought process of many politicians to continue to shrink , alas to the eventual size of the mighty plankton. Maybe, then, the plankton of the world will unite and lead us all to a sustainable environment on Earth.
Topics will be discussed that involve Wisconsin and world issues related to the environment, politics, and local Door County topics. Many issues are obscured from public scrutiny by the commercial media. Attempts will be made to connect apparently disconnected events, government activities, and political actions to better comprehend what takes place "Behind the Squeaking Door".
