The "Kewpie Doll with Lipstick" and the Statesman

Last night's so-called debate was indeed a spectacle. On one hand there was the statesman, Joe Biden, and on the other the "Kewpie Doll with Lipstick", Gov. Sarah Palin. Sen. Biden answered questions directly as they were asked. Gov. Sarah Palin answered every question in her own convoluted way. Seldom did she answer questions that were asked. Invariably, she answered a totally different question that she, Palin, created and then proceeded to provide her well-rehearsed reply. The intimidated moderator, who had been accused by McCain as being biased never once did her supposed moderator's job, and allowed the free-wheeling "Kewpie Doll with Lipstick" to ramble on.

To those of you who are either "hockey moms" or "six pack Joe's" I ask for your forgiveness. For the great majority of us who are neither, consider the source when you ask yourself who was Gov. Palin talking to when she used this double -barreled salutation to address the country? Does she really believe that we are all either "hockey moms" or "six-pack Joe's" or is this a simple statement of endearment? Sorry Governor, there are millions of us who are seniors, many more millions of hard working men and women, young college students struggling to pay tuition, young families struggling to pay for basic living expenses, and millions of unemployed and poor people who cannot afford to pay for gasoline to get to work, or heat their home, or even get essential medications and health care. Governor, you seem to have overlooked the many. many, millions of Americans who expect you to have some sense of empathy and connect with the real issues, instead of flashing your frozen Kewpie Doll smile while mouthing rapid, irrelevant talk.

Sen. Biden addressed his direct replies to the American people, the vast majority of us who are feeling the real effects of the Bush years that Sen. McCain supported with his 90% pro-Bush voting record in the Senate. Thanks to McCain and Bush policies we are in an endless war in Iraq and sinking into an economic whirlpool that indebts us and future generations.

Sen. Palin displayed her "Kewpie Doll with Lipstick" smile regardless of the words she uttered, and claimed that she and McCain were mavericks, while ignoring the facts that Sen. Biden clearly enunciated in his answers to the moderator's questions. Palin never responded to Sen. Biden's answers regarding Sen. McCain's true support of deregulation of the financial markets that led to the most significant economic crisis since the Depression. McCain has been a leader of deregulation of the savings and loan, banking, and investment markets for all 26 years in the Senate, as has the Republican Party. Now McCain wants to deregulate the health service market in the same manner, as he wrote last month in a actuarial publication for the health service industry. He now wants to disavow his long-standing, and well documented, record as a deregulator, and claim that he is a "reformer". Chameleon lizards may be scurrying around on McCain's ranch in Sedona Arizona, and this could account for his "reformed" appearance.

Perhaps, "Kewpie Doll with Lipstick Palin" can become the public relations mogul for a commercial Kewpie Doll enterprise as her next venture in the executive world, that she claims to possess expertise. The "Lone Ranger Maverick" and the "Kewpie Doll with Lipstick" are not what we need to lead our country out of the morass we're in.

America needs the steady leadership that Sen. Obama and Sen. Biden will provide to lead us into better times. The choice is in our hand. Vote intelligently.
